Well done, @thefontanajim.

If you haven’t noticed, recently there has been a big push to recycle the plastic 4 and 6-pack holders that are mostly made by PakTech.

It is nice they are providing bins at breweries for recycling. But (to sorta Jim’s point) the bins are not that big. You have two solid beer geeks come in on the same day to drop off and the bin is overflowing, yo.🤣

If you don’t want to read through the thread let me just tell you that the point is, it takes just a little bit more effort and creativity to make something real and beautiful.

The left side doorbell is Craft Beer and the right side is Big Beer.

This is one of the reasons I love Craft. It’s the better more artful product. There is beauty in a well made indie beer.

Oh, speaking of BIG Beer…

Paying My Respects

Still processing this Stone news.

I feel like we all don’t have time to figure out how to bend this into being not a buyout. I am just going to go with Stone being buyout-beer now and call it a day.

It only illustrates what we all know by now: If you are a craft brewery and expand aggressively, it will come for you eventually, no matter who you are.

I am not going to be the “I always thought their beer sucked anyway” guy, that dude always shows up for these things.

Stone IPA is one of the most important beers of its genre.

Stone Greg always made good beer and is/was the most interesting character in Craft Beer.

He may be a douche, I don’t really know, but I feel sorry for him and the company. Sorry that it had it end up like this, in order to save something for all the years of work.

Really it is just a big bummer.

I won’t worry about finding their beer anymore but I respect what Stone and Greg did for Craft Beer. ✌️🍻👏

(and also respect this take:

So. That will be it for today. I hope to show up on time Saturday.

I appreciate the read. And I hope you have a great week with your beers!

I too am processing the Stone buyout. But, i remember years ago when there was a pre-zoom conference like thing, and Maureen Ogle stated that all 'craft' beers would get bigger and not be craft anymore [well not quite like that] but the point being, that is how business is.

Also, Greg and Steve probably are thinking retirement might be nice right about now. I retired, so I guess i'm ok with that.

With Stone selling out, it doesn’t make any difference in my choices in craft. I haven’t had a Stone beer since May of 2019….. thats 4 years ago, but I have had Sapporo and that was in March of this year, so I guess we know who is funding who!

Crazy news, but the lawsuit against keySTONE took its toll on them. Not even winning kept them form losing, that’s some crazy sh!t .
