We are half way through this shit year so it’s time to check on any beer trends happening around here:
Less. I have drank a lot less this year. Budget reasons and to see what not drinking is like - to sum it up: It’s boring.
West Coasting. Store or taproom, I am looking for West Coast IPAs first, every time. Ahead of Pales and ahead of Hazzies - truth is there aren’t many Pales to see except…
XPA: There is at least one Pale out there and it’s Firestone Walker’s XPA. Definitely the beer I have had the most this year.
Mountain Lager. Tioga Sequoia’s Mountain (Amber) Lager is the only other interesting new beer around here lately. While it may not be my favorite style, I like the beer, how easy to drink it is, and how it is claiming a genre, “Mountain Lager”, given we are at the base of the Central Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Favorite So Far: No surprise it’s Russian River’s Pliny For President. Not always easy to get but they have a fresh batch out this week!
For readers in The States, find a good folding chair and have a great American Lager Day on Thursday. Thanks for the read and we’ll talk later.

Maybe I’ll have the American Light Lager that Rick Davis and I made. The more I drink from it before I dry hop it, the hoppier it will be.
Love folding chairs, hate trying to get out of one though, the struggle is real!! I’ve been sipping more Pacificos due to the economy and saving the good IPAs for self healing ! The 4th I’ll be at Americas favorite pass time…. At Chavez Ravine AZ vs LA ! Cheers Mikey 🍻
