We All Could Use A Good Beer Hall

I saw this on the Internets somewhere this week and it made me laugh. On to this week’s Drinking & Thinking!

Always Be Tapping

This week on the blog I wrote about how I can be too tired to post on Untappd. The combination of Instagram and Untappd put this sorta pressure on my beer drinking.

In the case of Instagram, it’s all about: take the perfect picture. Use the right tags. Post at the right times. Play the games. Why don’t I have more followers? On and freaking on.

It takes the fun out of things.

With Untappd, it’s different. While there can be the “take the perfect picture and write the perfect review” aspect of it if you want - which makes it too tiring sometimes.

There is also the like-minded community of beer drinkers. The freedom from algorithm gaming. Just straight up beer drinkers posting their beers and getting buzzed.

That’s why Untappd is a better app for real beer drinkers than Instagram.

I begrudgingly use Instagram. I enjoy using Untappd.

Woah. German Beer Halls Have a Dark Side!?

I was not aware of the Hitler and beer halls connection. Yeah, call me terrible at history but there is one:

Dude. I mean. Can you imagine? Hitler went around German beer halls recruiting for dudes to come be Nazi with him. For the millionth time: Fuuuuuck that guy.

I only came across this because I demanded that (on my other blog) someone in Fresno build a beer hall.

Because, beer halls, beer gardens and hofbrauhaus seem to be the best. We could use more of them in our lives.
