Welcome! I hope you have an extra day to drink and think this weekend.
Life Is Sour Without IPAs
Early into the Pandemic, Untappd created an “At Home” venue to check into since we can’t visit places in a normal way. They are about to reach a milestone of 25 million check-ins. A full post about it can be found here. This is what I found interesting from the stats:
The Top 5 being all IPA/Pales is not that surprising since they are the raddest of the styles, IMO. The interesting look is the Top 5 with ales taken out.
Sours are #1? That’s kinda crazy. I would have thought Lager and/or Pilsner followed by Stouts THEN maybe Sours.
Sweet COVID Jesus, NO!
This was the scene at a bar outside of Columbus SC on Thursday:
I am kinda glad to see a Bud Light tent and not some Carolina craft brewery. Definitely a Bud Light Seltzer crowd. Looking at South Carolina to be outbreak country, shortly.
Found Out A Thing
If you’ve been meaning to donate to a solid place to support more diversity in Craft Beer, check this out. While reading this New York Times article I found out about the Michael James Jackson Foundation for Brewing and Distilling.
A great program, so I donated with my Patreon money from the Perfect Pour’s Golden Gods, thanks for that guys! It was a tiny donation, to be honest, surely nothing compared to the awesomeness of Tree House Brewing’s:
Beer Twitter Thread Of The Week
Sad to say I have not been on any epic tours. The best is probably a Full Sail one I took around 10 years ago on a trip to Oregon. I have been to Russian River several times but never a tour. Sierra Nevada (Chico) is probably atop my realistic list. Number one for unrealistic would probably be Cantillon, just for the street cred alone:
A fairly epic thread if you want to take a tour. t
Well. Sorry. I Found It Funny.
This was not hittin’ like I thought it would on this week’s episode of The Perfect Pour, which should tell me to stop and not post it here. But dammit, I thought it was funny. And maybe this is a good way to send you into the Labor Day weekend, hopefully laughing.
Anyway, here it is, a slowed down and supercut Jonathan Frakes sounding like a philosophical and questioning drunk, about two minutes from passing out:
Thanks for reading and keep it safe. Cheers!

Enjoying coffee and a Merican muffin ( all nukes, no crannies) deliciously paired with your letter! Thank you Mikey !!
