Welcome. Good to see you.
In case you wanted to leave Beer Twitter, I pulled together other options to internet with other beer people.
They may be obvious to you. That’s fine. Just reminding you of these things is all then:
Untappd - no better place to rant about beer life online than a beer-drinking app.
Reddit - there is Beer or Craft Beer, to get you started.
Facebook groups - there are seemingly endless beer groups on Facebook.
Blog post comments - remember these? I miss checking back on blog posts to see if someone left a new comment. Beervana still has a little bit of this and it’s adorable now. I still hold out hope for mine.
Discord - A sort of message board site for today’s world. A different version of a Facebook group. This is the one I go on.
Message boards - speaking of, the old Beer Advocate is still running. As is Homebrew Talk.
Instagram - Instagram has become tiresome to me. I still post (@mikeytoppour) because I feel I have to, but I wouldn’t mind if it went away too. Not a good replacement for Twitter either, IMO.
Craft Beer TikTok - I feel the same about TikTok as I do Instagram.
Beer YouTube - this is one I have spent a little more time on as my interest in other Internet things has faded. The closest thing to blog post comment threads today are YouTube comments.
Your local taproom bar. If you sit at the bar instead of a table, you will pick up what the beer tenders are having to deal with. And what kind of things patrons (beer people) are talking about and ordering - a live “Twitter feed” happening in front of you.
The problem with all of it is there isn’t an apples-to-apples match for Twitter. I know there is Mastadon, but I may just want to leave the whole thing rather than start up somewhere new.
I am trying to have less social media in my life, not more.
If Twitter implodes (I don’t think it will, it’s more likely it’ll become kinda lame) I won’t need to replace it, it’ll just leave me more time for relaxing drinking.
Things To Beer With and Giving Thanks
I started watching “1883” in preparation for the coming series “1923”, a Paramount+ show with my boy, Harrison Ford. Both are pre-quels to “Yellowstone”.
A couple of episodes in on “1883”and I would recommend it - good western and pioneering stuff.
I had some Heretic Brewing “So Much Mo” IPAs while watching and they paired nicely.

Oh, and Happy Thanksgiving to those that celebrate. It’s the perfect mix-pack holiday.
You can’t go wrong with one from Sierra. If you have a local Craft option that packages, that works too. Don’t forget to hide your good ones though (bottom of the ice-chest) - cousin Tommy doesn’t deserve your $24 four-pack IPAs.

Thanks for the read. Hope you have a great week and Thanksgiving! See you on the Beer Internets! ⌨️💻

Peace ✌️ Beer 🍻 & Metal 🤘
Hard agree on wanting to leave social media behind but feeling like you gotta post for the whole writing / branding yourself thing, sigh. But my favorite option here is hands down the local taproom, irl conversations ftw!
This one was a long informative read! Didn’t know twitter was falling apart, me leaving must of done a lot of damage.
I might return full force and give twitter life or I might just let it fade away as UNTAPPD becomes a more “ hang out spot “ instead of the “ self checkout “ !!
Mikey.. Happy Thanksgiving to you and all your loved ones homie!!
