Dad joke season is here. I would have rather not use something (graphic above) from Big Beer but it was too dang appropriate.
I should balance the indie timeline…
Keeping Up The Good Fight
It’s easy to forget about all the buyout beer out there still. A recent return trip to The Libertine in Moro Bay, California, revealed this mural that reminds us of some of the Indie Brewers we have lost.
Brew Them Something To Remember
Respect for what Russian River did with the beers Velvet Glove and Happy Hops. Not only did they revive those beers from Santa Rosa’s original (long since closed) brewery, Grace Brothers, but they recently had the remaining GB workers in to tell some old tails from the brewery.
We lose so much history so it’s nice to see folks stopping to document and remember.
Dad Music To Drink To
The Killers did a colab with Bruce that your dad might be into. Maybe you too.
The Links To Beer
Making the rounds this past week is this Vinepair post with the above map of each state’s oldest brewery still operating. Damn I miss Anchor being an independent brewer.
You are the lucky ones, San Diegans. Not only is your town the WCIPA Capital, you have a cool blogsite (SD Beer News) that lists everything new on-tap this weekend. I could have one hell of a Father’s Day chasing down that list.
Designed For Dad Parties
This year’s Dad Beer Award goes to Nickle Brook Brewing (Ontario, Canada) with their “Party Dad 3.0”, an IPA coming in at 3.5%. That is a good ALL day drinker. Label art is on point as well.
Have A Great Dad Joke Weekend!
Happy Father’s Day to all the dad’s and dad figures out there!
Big respect for those that take the time to share Drinking & Thinking! If you get bored I also have a related blog and podcast - in case you didn’t know. Thanks for the read!!
