I am starting a new feature on the blog: Things I did while drinking a beer - yes, it could use a better name.
Really, it’s sort of a spin-off of my Ambient Reviews.
Anyway, these are things that happened while drinking a Pale from Elk Grove’s Flatland Brewing called “The Local – Sacramento Style Pale”.
I was sitting in my backyard and…
I saw several birds. There was a sparrow, a crow, and a bluejay that ate some food from my bird feeder.
I listened to/overheard the PA of this high school baseball game being played in my neighborhood:
I listened to a hotrod rumble around the block.
I saw a squirrel bury something in my planter bed.
I agreed on how nice a day it is:
I earned the “To Go Level 48” badge while checking this beer in on Untappd.
Admired my new Brumate with painted metal that makes it feel like a car finish - it is my new favorite thing:
And that takes us to the end of the beer. It was a nice Pale, btw - good enough for me to give it a try again.
Hope these kind of “reviews” help inspire you to take-in more of your surroundings while having a beer. 🍻👀
Beer Twitter Thread OTW
Yeah, it’s kinda true. But that is sadly true with most of retail when you think about it. The service industry in general is woefully underpaid.
I doubt many people working at [insert every retail place in existence here] can buy much of anything without an employee discount. And that’s where shift-beers and industry discounts come into play for beer workers.
I really don’t know how big a “profit” margin there is for a normal brewery - my understanding is it’s low. So, outside of charging more for the beer so you can pay the employees more, not sure how the Craft Beer industry can fix this.
I would be fully willing to pay more if I knew the brewery paid their staff reasonably well, but maybe most wouldn’t. 🤷🏼
[It’s an interesting thread if you want to read it]
Appreciate You Taking The Time
As always, a big thanks for the read! Hope your beers treat you well.
