Glassware. I think Nick brought it up on this week’s Perfect Pour, asking what your go-to is. Above I have my five favorite glasses to use. Pretty much whichever one of those I see first when I open the cabinet is the one I use.
I feel like they are all good for pales and IPA drinking. I like ones that help with aroma.
It’s always good to brush up on some beer glass knowledge. I trust White Labs with knowing proper beer things so let’s see what they say about glassware:
Beer Twitter Thread Of The Week
A nice positive spin to Beer Twitter. A couple highlights include:
I love that a guy from beer-soaked Portland, is wishing for a Santa Rosa beer to be there AND it’s not even a Russian River.
Small town breweries are the best:
Give me a good little brewery or beer bar, a good grocery store and a good diner and I could live there and be happy, no matter how small the town.
As for my fun and happy: I go back and forth but I mostly love pales and single IPAs. A mid-afternoon pale (hazy or clear) on a day off, makes me happy.
That said, sometimes I want a buzz and I can’t get one with those Lo-Fi beers. That’s when DIPAs and TIPAs come in handy.
In that thread there was also this:
What in the faaaau now?! Grodziskie? I am fully here to admit I don’t know what the hell a Grodziskie beer is. That name sounds fucking awesome though.
Grodziskie: A light clear golden beer with a strong smoke aroma and flavor.
I guess they look like this in the bottle:
Very cool. But for that style? You lost me with the strong smoke flavor. I like it on meat okay but that’s it. Smoked beers are not for this beer duffas.
The Links Of Beer
The Atlantic talks about our history with booze and wonders if we drink too much (I think you have to be a subscriber to read). This one got all over the place this week.
So Cal brewer, Three Weavers, has left the craft beer collective CANarchy (featuring breweries like Cigar City and Oskar Blues) to go back to doing things totally on their own. Oregon’s Ninkasi did a similar thing recently. I like this trend, pulling things back and keeping your Indie ways to yourself. Maybe not worrying about distributing far and wide and keeping things local, is the new thing? Sounds good to me.
A week of fun and happy drinking to you!
Thanks for the read this week! Keep it fun out there and be safe! Feel free to leave a comment with your favorite glassware to use.
