Welcome welcome welcome to Drinking & Thinking! Hope this provides some craft enjoyment to your beer-ing this week.
THE THINKING
Everything is an IPA!!
Brown IPA. Stout IPA. Table IPA. Sour IPA (oh wait, that’s already a thing) - you get the idea.
Every beer style needs to have an IPA version if it wants to survive.
Okay, not really survive, but I think this is where we are heading. IPA (hazy and clear) is destined to have its hoppy hands into everything, might as well let it and see what happens.
Orrrrr, Miss Pints & Panels, you can just “IPA” whatever style of beer you don’t like and then start liking it. 😂
*We talk a little about this on yesterday’s Perfect Pour.
THE DRINKING
Drinking Digest - August 6th-12th
I was slightly lighter on my drinking this week I feel. But let’s check my Untappd numbers coupled with my memory bank to make sure:
In the past seven days, I have had 22 beers. All from a can. Six of them 12oz, and the rest 16oz. All drank completely.
All were drunk at home (I lead a pretty interesting life, let me tell ya), so no draft beer.
Is that a lot or a little? I am really not sure anymore. I have had heavier weeks and lighter weeks, maybe this one was average then.
The six 12oz cans came from that new Modern Times six-pack, “Water Ski Fight” IPA. A Galaxy and Citra based WCIPA, it was pretty damn nice and I will recommend it.
The most interesting was the Liquid Gravity four-pack I mentioned last week. I drank all of them on Saturday and was expecting a hangover, but it never came. I think because I spaced them out fairly well and ate, and drank enough other liquids (I am totally a pro at this drinking it seems).
I had a Russian River beer that I think I have had only once before, their Session IPA, Dribble Belt. And can I say I was disappointed in it? Can I really say that I was disappointed in a beer from Russian River? Holy shit I guess I am saying it. Yeah, I WAS DISSAPOINTED IN A RUSSIAN RIVER BEER!! (damn, I feel sick to my stomach now).
Maybe it was because of it being only a 4.5% it threw me off? I like session beers though and felt like I was making those adjustments in my head. I honestly need to have it two more times to make a final decision on that rating.
Time To Head Out
Alight, I hope you have a great week around your beers. I always appreciate the read. Any sharing of this newsletter (in person or through your social medias and what not) is awesome.
