(Welcome to Drinking and Thinking: a free newsletter focused on craft beer culture and the joy of relaxing with a good beer and a getting a nice buzz).
Let’s start this week’s issue off with the ‘label buy of the week’ with this beaut from San Diego’s Burgeon Beer Co, with help from Boneyard and Altamont.
Beer Twitter Thread[s] Of The Week
If you were wondering why the hell everyone was talking about that Brew Dog guy or had no idea what’s going on, a deep dig into this Dave Infante post or this Beth Demon thread, will get you up to date:
And @delightedbite had another one that went Beer Twitter viral (because pockets of Beer Twitter loves to talk about themselves)
to this I say:
Beer geeks are all the things, dude. We are complicated and we are everything; buffoons trying to be a nice.
So we thought that was it for Beer Twitter this week.
But then @beerbabe made a simple request on Twitter:
Sounds like a perfect festival to me, even if I have to pay an extra $20 more.
Then some total buffoons made this into a bad thing. Thinking this was unrealistic. But it is not.
I and probably you, have been to festivals that do all of the things Carla requests and it was the best. I have been to festivals that do only some of these things and it was… meh.
CRAFT beer festivals, to me, are not there to make money, they are there to promote craft beer culture and area brewers.
Give them some space, pay your workers that show up, charge enough to make that happen, add some water and enough port-a-johns, drop in some food trucks, it all works out.
Word, Carla. Word.

An AI beer writer program sounds close to real life. Uh oh, I wonder what an AI ‘Not My Style Guy’ would sound like. Read it here.
Over at VinePair.com, @RayRickyRivera asked 10 brewers (from different parts of the country) what breweries are worth checking out right now.
Another one over at Vine Pair is by Courtney Iseman and is for the Lager Life folks out there.
Over at the Full Pint they have a look back at when folks like Oskar Blues and Saint Archer were cool craft beer kids.
Storm Pairing
I know I post a lot of Pints & Panels illustrations but I couldn’t resist a beer & weather one as I enjoy being an enthusiast of both. If you are out East, I hope you have enough beer to weather the storm. 🌨🌨🍻
When Comedic Folk Review A Beer
Things To Drink With
Even though I fear and know that Fresno needs more rain and local snowpack, I am really enjoying the warmer days with the hints of Spring. Day or night, beers on a patio, or porch, or bear garden, are the best.
So, point is, I am looking forward to having my first beers on the patio in months. Also some beers while watching a new SNL with Willem Dafoe as the host.
Also, fit in some reading and writing with a beer at my side. And on Sunday while watching my Rams try and actually win a game against the 49ers and move on to the Super Duper Game Bowl.
I Leave You With This
Saw that quote on Books & Wine’s feed and thought it was great.
Thank you for the read. Thank you for the shares. Have a safe and fun week with your beers!
