Every year on the Perfect Pour we wonder if Sierra Nevada Brewing makes multiple batches of Celebration Ale, or do they do it all in one shot.
Well this season, in the year of our Beer Lord 2021, I can all but confirm there are at least two batches!!
The first batch to hit Fresno was canned on 10/08/21.
It was looking like that was it because several six-packs purchased later resulted in the same date.
But now (after it sat untouched for a week in my fridge as I moved through previously bought sixers) I have discovered a SECOND BATCH!!:
11/05/21. It’s at least a second canning date. But with that large of a span between dates we can assume that’s a different batch.
Does Sierra have a third batch in them before Celebration goes away? We’ll keep checking.
By the way, the second batch tastes the same as the first, as far as I can tell.
UPDATE!: There are even more batches! This from an Untappd friend, there is a 10/5 & 10/21 batch!:
UPDATE #2!: Nick from The Perfect Pour in Friday’s episode announced he found a September batch at Costco! That is five batches and counting!
Twitter Thread Of The Week
Keeping with the Celebration Ale content theme; we can’t all understand Celebration’s appeal.
It’s a yearly palete reset, my guy, not a hazy party.
If you go in on Celebration Ale thinking it’s a fresh new take on a Winter IPA or whatever, you’re missing the vibe.
By the way, I did not know it’s been around 40 years:
There’s A Miller High Life Gingerbread Dive Bar Kit!
It seems like it would be easy to swap out the Miller signage and make your own using your favorite CRAFT Beer. It hasn’t gone on sale yet but Miller makes you give them your info if you’re interested. I’ll pass.
Catty American Drinking
A new illustration from Pints and Panels makes me wonder: Are we just a product of our environment when it comes to beer flavors? I am all about the American flavors there, not as much with the other countries. 🤷🏼
Lo-Fi Watch Of The Week
It’s no secret the new Peter Jackson documentary about the making of the Beatles final album and the lead up to their last performance, is out there. It’s definitely not for everyone, but I enjoyed it.
I have never been a “fan” of the band but I have always enjoyed them as creatives and songwriters and people, so this doc is perfect for that.
The audio is very wonky at times because Peter Jackson had to recreate some of the audio that wasn’t useable and it doesn’t match up or sound correct in spots.
Outside of that, I enjoyed being a fly-on-the-wall while they worked out songs. And when you watch all eight hours, by the time they get to the final performance you somehow feel like part of the crew that put the show together.
For me the saddest part is the credits as it shows (what turns out to be) the final moments of the guys playing music together.
There are little moments of them having some lo-fi beers, but you gotta look for them. Definitely want to drink some lo-fi ABV beers if you want to binge it and stay awake.
There is a good review of it over at Pitchfork.
Everybody Have A Good Time
This is what I have for ya today. Hope you find some good beers to hang out with this week!
Thanks for the read.

An other banger Mikey! As for the Celebration dates… multiple dates sounds just about right, no way they could quench all of California with just one batch and still have leftovers for the surrounding states! The Beatles Doc looks fun, but eight hours… im ganna have to chop it up in segments, if this was StarWars , Indiana , of even Lord of The Rings I could do the whole eight in a sitting!! 💯
Thanks for the awesome read Mikey! 🍻 cheers
