I don’t really have much money for beer right now.
Certainly not as much as I would like.
So, it’s time to make my beer purchases with budgeting in mind. This can be rough for a beer geek. Budget and Craft Beer don’t go together well.
This is not a rant about the high price of Craft Beer. I am comfortable with the fact that it costs more to make better, independent, beer.
Just trying to spend less, but still have good beer around.
The rules are:
I still want to drink CRAFT beer and Big Beer is off the table.
End of list.
So, we look for ways to get more beer for the buck. The deals. There are not as many as there are in the Big Beer space, but there are things we can do.
A variety pack from a mostly craft brewer - those seem to be cheaper than a 100% Craft. For my town that would be a Firestone Walker 12-pack. This gives me at least three different beers to have at the best price possible.
A variety or 12-pack of sames from Sierra Nevada Brewing.
A 12-pack from a local brewery. That would be 12 cans of General Sherman from Tioga Sequoia for me.
Today I went with another option. It’s less budget-y but it is at least cheaper than what I normally would do (just buy the beers I haven’t had yet and be less mindful of the price). Baby steps.
My local indie market luckily has a singles beer section. Almost all Craft. Prices are subject to how much alcohol and how sought after the beer is.
These are the six I chose:
From left to right in the pic, the brewery and prices:
Liquid Gravity $4.99.
Incinerati $4.49.
Incinerati $4.49.
Pizza Port $2.99.
There Does Not Exist $5.49.
Crow & Wolf $5.49.
Plus, The Market gives you a %10 discount when you build your own six-pack.
So, yeah, okay, not exactly cheap. But it could be a lot worse. They have some that are $6.99 and on up. And it’d be more expensive at other places.
Hopefully this helps you if you have been needing to crackdown on yourself.
I have more work to do with my budgeting. Harder cuts.
…alright, okay… this is the smallest of cuts, I admit 😂, but it is a start, okay?! Lots of variety 12-packs are my future.
As always, I would like to thank you for the read. Keep your eye on those price tags and don’t be afraid to leave a comment with your beer-geek-on-a-budget, tricks.
Cheers!

Peace ✌️ Beer 🍻 & Metal 🤘
the price of a good beer is certainly up from a few years ago! and that is quite a range of prices you have here, who knew Pizza Port would ever be available here, AND be cheaper.
Good Times!
Beer deals, I usually get mix 6pks and then ask the owner of the BottleShoppe “ got any samples for me to review “ then he hooks me up with 2 - 4 cans he’s been giving by breweries ! 😉💯 I’ll give him my review and he’ll make his decision if to carry the beer or not! Cheers
