Hi. Welcome to my midlife crisis, also known as Drinking & Thinking.
My favorite beer this past week is the beer I brought with me on a hike to Upper Yosemite Falls: General Sherman IPA from Tioga Sequoia Brewing.
It was a grueling switchback-filled 3000-foot climb to the top of Yosemite Falls. A climb I almost quit twice. But I was glad to make it so I could have a nice beer with an amazing view of the Yosemite Valley below:
I highly recommend having a beer with you when you go hiking, just as long as you also have ample water or a filter of some kind.
I put the can inside a Brumate can cooler, and it was still cool enough after being in it for about six hours, so there is that.
At one point (running a little low on water and only halfway up) I thought to myself, “Oh, there is no way I am going to have that beer up there, I am screwed as it is, and I don’t want to dehydrate myself.”
But then I got up there. Rested a minute. Decided to open the beer and thought I would “just have a sip. I mean, I came all this way.”
It started going down so easy. It started relaxing me. Then I thought, “Oh, I am having this whole thing.” And I did. And it was great. It was what beer is there for. And all was well.
I hope all is well with you. Sometimes they are with me, and I let those times carry me through the tough stuff.
Thank you for reading. Stay safe. Talk to you later.
