Welcome back to Drinking & Thinking! Sorry I took last weekend off, I was in Portland (Oregon) for a wedding but I managed to fit in a couple of beer things that I recommend:
Level & Von Ebert Brewing
Level. First time visiting this brewery. Tucked away in an industrial area on the Eastern side of Portland, right below the flight path of the airport, it’s a fine enough spot for a brewery.
I enjoyed the 80s video games theme and the beer was excellent as well. They seem to have food-trucks pretty much permanently parked so it works for those bringing a group of people along that may not care about the beer so much.
Definitely the best place to go if you are staying by the airport.
Von Ebert
And if you are a golfer, the best place to check out would be the Von Ebert Brewing, which is within gimmie-putt distance of the 1st and 10th tees of Glendoveer Country Club.
Good beer and good food with a patio that boasts a lovely view of the wooded course. 👍
Date Check Warning! ⚠️
We always say it on the Perfect Pour, “Check your dates.”
A recent visit to the grocery store revealed a five-month-old six-pack of Firestone Walker “Hopnosis” IPA. Not even close to the worst beer date I have seen in the grocery store. But still.
Five months is too long for me anymore, if it is a hoppy beer. Sierra Nevada’s Pale Ale is the only one I would buy at that date or later.
So really this is just a warning. I think there are a lot of early Spring released beers still on the shelf. So make sure to check. your. dates.
Newsletter Writing Beer
While writing the bulk of this issue, I drank the above “Lonely & Dreaming Of The West Coast” from Alvarado Street Brewing. It is a fine representation of a WCIPA. I always try to pick up any good looking West Coasts over Hazy beers when I can. Not against hazzies, just try to support the westies whenever I can.
And yes, after hearing the name of the beer this song is in your head:
Alright, that will have to be enough for now. Thank you for the read, I greatly appreciate it. Hope you have a good week with your beers!
